The first frost of the season greeted the 11 anglers that attended the matvh on the canal on the LGCAA Poppyhill complex. The early morning cloud gave way to a bright blue sky and dazzling sunshine but this did not help lift the temperatures much above freezing.

Club Bailiff and Letchworth man Ray Sparks was helped to first place with 4 carp for his weight of 8lb 13oz on peg 14. Ray put his pole rig two thirds the way over the canal to the lily pads while using very soft pellet on the hook with some loose fed micros to keep the fish interested.

Dick Sayers worked quietly on peg 2 to take second place. Dick also used a pole to the far side with maggot on the float with no loose offerings but had a 1lb 10oz Chub in his total haul of 7lb 10oz.

Rich Goodwin from Letchworth took third place from peg 8.  Rich used a pellet feeder setup with double red maggot on the hook to take 3 carp for a weight of 6lb 9oz on peg 8.

Overall Sunday league positions (Top 3) – 1st Kevin Farrow 167 points,   2nd Clive Robinson 159 points,   3rd Steve Mayes 134 points.
