Club Match - Poppy Hill : Canal
Sunday 12th July 2015

Eight anglers appeared for the start of the holiday season matches and with the promise of showers which did not amount to very much, everyone had an empty peg either side of them.

Local angler Steve Mayes conquered the canal today with a stunning mix of fish for a weight of 17lb 12oz from peg 18.  Steve employed various tactics including feeder to the far side and short pole to the lily pads on his left hand side. Maggot was one of his featured choice of hook baits to help him win.

Shefford man Kev Farrow used paste to the far side for carp and pellet on the near side for silvers on peg 4. Kevin’s total weight for the day was 12lb 5oz.

Everyone else had also weighed in with most species of fish making an appearance on most pegs.

Overall Sunday league positions (Top 3) – 1st Kevin Farrow 39 points,   2nd Rich Goodwin 35 points,   3rd Clive Robinson 34 points.
